Potty Trained at 2!

The internet and I have a strong love/hate relationship. As a mom the internet sets expectations for your child ridiculously high and is constantly making you feel like a #parentfail. Potty training your child is on the tip top of the high expectation list.
So when it came time to potty train Walker, I began studying up and reading anything and everything I could to help make the process easier so that I could have that child who was "potty trained in 3 days"...confession: that did NOT happen! I felt like #parentfail and almost gave up.
Anyways, let's get to the point...Here are my tips that I found that worked for my boy.
*Please keep in mind, I am by no means any sort of expert and all kiddos are different so what worked for us may not work for you.
Step #1: Stock up on clorox wipes, bleach and a whole lot of patience.
Step #2: Buy a potty. We used the Fisher-Price learn to flush potty. It sings, makes flushing sounds and lights up...so it was entertaining for him which made him enjoy going.

Step #3: UNDERWEAR! When I first began potty training I took the diaper on and off a thousand times, tried pull-ups and tried naked. It really stuck with Walker when I let him pick out his own underwear.
Step #4: I took Walker to the potty every 20-30 minutes (talk about exhausting,I know). But the persistence paid off.
Step #4: Be ready to make a fool out of yourself. You will spend A LOT and I do mean A LOT of time in the bathroom so I started making up silly little songs incorporating "potty terms", dances, finger puppets...you name it, I did it.
Step #5: My last and final tip is known as the "big long snake". It took us quite sometime to get Walker to poop in the potty. I tried bribing him with hot wheels cars, candy, trips to play places..everything! No matter what I tried he would still be to scared and have #2 accidents. It all changed when one day I sat him down on the potty and said "can you make a big long snake in the potty". He got so excited, he pushed and wollah, he had done it! Ever since that day if he needs to go #2 he says "I make a small snake" or "I make a big big snake".
Like I said earlier, I am by no means an expert but just one momma trying to help out other mommas. Hope some of these tips can help your kiddos.
